"Live" Roofs in Australia

Have you heard about dangerous "live" roofs in Australia?  Confused?  Alarmed?

In Australia, a nationwide energy-savings plan encouraged installation of foil insulation in homes.  If improperly installed, the foil insulation can conduct electricity from main cables, creating roof cavities which are "live" with electrical currents.  If the insulation is touched, it could cause shocks, electrocution, and potential death.

The Australian government has ordered safety checks for homes using foil insulation and has currently suspended the program which encouraged their use.
