SPRING LAKE, Mich. — March 10, 2011 — LiveRoof^®, LLC, the horticultural experts in the green roof industry, announced that the LiveRoof^® Hybrid Green Roof System can contribute to projects earning LEED^® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits in categories worth twenty or more points. The LiveRoof system is the most advanced and horticulturally sound green roof solution. LEED from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a green building certification program that encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices.

Heat Island Effect: SS 7.1 Heat Island Effect - Non-Roof (1 point) and SS 7.2 Heat Island Effect - Roof (1 point)

WATER EFFICIENCY:

Water-Efficient Landscaping: WE 1.1 Reduce by 50 percent (2 points) and WE 1.3 No Potable Water Use or No Irrigation (2 points)

ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE:

Optimize Energy Performance: EA 1.1 to 1.19 (1 to 19 points)

MATERIALS & RESOURCES: 

Construction Waste Management: MR 2 (1 or 2 points)

Recycled Content: MR 4.1-4.2 (1 or 2 points)

Regional Materials: MR 5.1-5.2 (1 or 2 points)

Rapidly Renewable Materials: MR 6 (1 point)
